CARE MINISTRY
Our Care Ministry vision is to equip and mobilize the church to care well for one another. By empowering trained volunteers and partnering with pastoral leadership, we provide holistic care—spiritual, emotional, and practical—so that every person experiences God’s love through meaningful connection. CHILDREN AND YOUTH MINISTRY LEADERS
Help create a place where children and youth feel known, loved, and encouraged to grow in their faith! Children and youth ministry volunters build relationships with kids and students, support their faith development, and help create fun, welcoming and meaningful experiences at SOTV. Whether you’re leading a lesson, helping with activities, serving at an event, or simply being a consistent, caring presence, your involvement can make a lasting difference in the life of a young person. Contact Tia Pugh to learn more about opportunities for PreK - eighth grade. Contact Angie Spann to get involved with our high school youth.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS TEAM
Help create a warm, welcoming experience for everyone who walks through our doors! The First Impressions Team welcomes guests, helps people find their way, answers questions, makes connections and follows up with newcomers. From greeting people at the door to hosting a meal or walking alongside a new member, there are many ways to help people feel known, welcomed and connected at SOTV. Some roles are scheduled regularly, while others are less frequent or as-needed. Contact Meg Zierke to get involved on this team.
LANDSCAPING TEAM
Help keep our church grounds beautiful, welcoming, and well cared for! The church grounds landscaping team helps with seasonal landscaping, planting, weeding, trimming and other outdoor projects as needed. Whether you have a green thumb or simply enjoy working outdoors, your time and talents help create a welcoming environment for our church family and guests. Contact Phil Parrot to learn more.
LUTHERAN WOMEN'S MISSIONARY LEAGUE (LWML)
LWML is an international organization that joyfully proclaims Christ's love, supports missions and honors God by serving others. Our local LWML group at SOTV is known as Women of the Word. This group meets regularly for Bible Study, planning mission projects, performing service activities for SOTV and our community, and fellowship with other Christian women. Women of the Word meets once a month (September through May) on the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. For more information, contact Deb Jackson at djacks123@msn.com.
MEALS FOR MOMS
This group blesses parents of new babies with several meals over a two-week period to help take some of the everyday stress off families who are acclimating to their newest addition. Members are notified when a new Meal Train is available and can choose to provide a meal if and when it works with their schedule. For more information, contact Amber Kelley at a.kelley.usborne@gmail.com.
TECH TEAM
Help create a meaningful worship experience by serving behind the scenes! Our worship tech team helps make each service run smoothly through sound, slides, livestreaming, and other technology needs. You don’t have to be a tech expert—we’ll provide training and help you find the role that fits you best. Whether you’re running the sound board, advancing slides, managing the livestream, or helping with other service technology, your behind-the-scenes service helps everyone engage more fully in worship. Contact Angie Spann to learn more.
USHER TEAM & WORSHIP ASSISTANTS
Members of our usher team are responsible for assisting worshippers in finding seats or family members, assisting visitors, directing communicants during communion, greeting worshippers in the sanctuary, and additional duties as assigned during worship. Members are assigned to a team and typically serve one Sunday each month, as well as occasional holiday services and/or fifth Sunday services. If you are interested in joining this serving team, please contact Craig Belden at cmbelden21@gmail.com.
YMCA SUPPORTIVE HOUSING COMMITTEE
This group demonstrates God’s love to tenants and staff at the YMCA Supportive Housing Community by purchasing, preparing and serving meals to the community once/month; hosting a BBQ for the residents each summer; coordinating a JuBELLation performance at the facility during the Christmas season each year; and in other ways as opportunities present themselves. Members volunteer once a month at the YMCA SHC to serve meals and interact with the residents, as well as volunteering for other YMCA SHC events as needed.
