Welcome to SOTV!
No matter who you are or what you are coming from, we want you to feel welcome here. We understand visiting a new church can be a bit overwhelming. We want to help make your visit a great one!
Visit Before You Visit
Worshiping online gives you a chance to see what our service (10:30 a.m. only) is like before you step foot in the door. We cannot wait to get to know you in person, but until then, you can learn about the law and gospel of our Savior and get to know our church from the comfort of your home or wherever you are.
What's Your Worship Style?
Traditional Worship
If you prefer a more traditional Lutheran worship service, we suggest you visit our 8 a.m. worship service. This service offers a weekly liturgy including the kyrie, collect of the day, weekly creed and invocation, as well as traditional hymns and music offerings.
Contemporary Worship
If you are a fan of the latest Christian music artists and a more upbeat Holy Spirit-filled worship experience, please check out our 10:30 a.m. worship service. Portions of traditional liturgy are still offered at this service with music led by our contemporary praise band.
In addition to Sunday morning worship, we also offer an education hour for both adults and children from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m.
Our Adult Bible Class is lead by various church leaders. Topics/studies typically last three - 10 weeks. For more information about our Sunday School program, please click here.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Should I Wear?
SOTV offers a casual environment, so wear what feels comfortable! Jeans and a t-shirt will fit right in. If you prefer more dressy attire, slacks and a dress shirt, a dress, or skirt and blouse would also be appropriate.
Where Should I Park?
We have plenty of parking on the east, west and south sides of our church. All entrances are unlocked on Sunday mornings and during events and other meetings during the week. Our east and northwest entrances are handicap accessible. Our east and west doors have a handicap button for entry assistance.
Where Can I Learn More Once I Get There?
Our lobby Information Center has many resources to help you get better acquainted with our church. It is just inside our main east entrance, next to our church office. You can usually find a volunteer stationed nearby to answer any questions you might have. Pastor John David is also available after each worship service, if you would like to meet and speak with him. We encourage all our visitors to complete a Visitor Connect card so we can follow up with you after your visit. We also have printed copies available in our Information Center.
Do I Have to Give an Offering?
If you're new, please keep your wallet in your pocket. We encourage you as our first-time visitor to simply pray about where to start. If and when you are ready to give, you can learn more about ways to give here.
Can I Take Communion?
Because we desire that all who participate in Christ's body and blood will receive the blessings promised therein, and because the Scriptures themselves call for a self-examination prior to participating in the Lord's Supper (I Corinthians 11:28), we have found the
following questions helpful in preparing for the Lord's Supper:
- Have I been baptized in the name of the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit?
- Do I believe that I am a sinful human being without hope of eternal life except for God's mercy in Christ?
- Do I believe that Jesus Christ is God's Son and my personal Savior?
- Do I believe that He is personally present in the Sacrament of Holy Communion with His body and blood?
- Do I hope by the power of the Holy Spirit to live a Godly life?
When you come to the Lord's Supper, you are affirming with each communicant that Jesus is your Savior and Lord, that with Lutheran Christians you believe His body and blood are present, and you desire to serve Him as a dynamic disciple in the fellowship of the church.
